Iowa gave No. 4 Michigan State a game for 40 minutes, but came up just short, 96-93, Tuesday night.
Nicholas Baer's half-court heave at the buzzer hit the front of the rim and bounced off.
Iowa's Tyler Cook had a game-high 26 points, hitting 11 of 22 from the floor. Guard Jordan Bohannon had 17. Guard Maishe Dailey added 13, and Cordell Pemsl and Isiah Moss added 11 apiece for the Hawkeyes (12-14), who fell to 3-10 in the Big Ten.
Nick Ward added 17 for Michigan State (23-3, 11-2 Big Ten). Joshua Langford had 15.
