College basketball rankings: Iowa, Michigan State fall ahead of Monday’s game

So, about that Oregon win.

The best victory on Iowa's resume no longer looks quite as strong. The Hawkeyes beat the then-16th-ranked Ducks 77-69 in New York on Nov. 15, but Oregon has since dropped games to Texas Southern and Houston.

Iowa (6-1) had a chance for another top-25 win Friday night, but lost 72-66 to No. 22 Wisconsin and fell four spots to No. 19 in this week's coaches poll. The Badgers (7-1) jumped up to No. 16.

Iowa plays at No. 10 Michigan State on Monday night, then hosts Iowa State on Thursday. The Spartans (6-2) slipped from No. 8 after taking an 82-78 overtime loss at Louisville last week.

Michigan (8-0) remains the most impressive and highest-ranked Big Ten team at No. 5. Gonzaga (8-0), Kansas (6-0), Duke (7-1) and Virginia (7-0) stayed in front of the Wolverines. Ohio State (7-1) is No. 17 and Maryland (7-1), Purdue (5-3) and Nebraska (7-1) round out the coaches poll at Nos. 23-25.

After Kansas in the Big 12, Texas Tech (7-0) is No. 13 and Kansas State (6-1) is 15th.

The Hawkeyes are ranked No. 18 in the Associated Press poll. The Cyclones are receiving votes in both polls.
