Candidate Editorial: Art Staed for House District 80
This is Art Staed, from a family of 11 children. Early on in life, I learned the value of education, the importance of taking care of one another, and compromise - working together to solve problems.
I am running to represent the families and individuals in House District 80 because I want a stronger Iowa, with broader prosperity for all – an Iowa with government that recognizes a shared responsibility for building a brighter future for all of us, not just a few.
My commitment is anchored in these goals:
•More family-sustaining jobs.
•Genuine tax fairness.
•Affordable quality health care and mental health services.
•Support for small businesses and entrepreneurs.
•A safer and more inviting environment for diversity and inclusion.
•Improved schools and educational training opportunities for workers.
This means that I will work for an economy centered on innovation and focused on education and the success of existing businesses – creating good-paying jobs, spreading taxation equitably, giving every Iowan an opportunity to prosper. It includes an inviting environment, where every Iowan feels safe at home and in their community. It means a world-class, well-funded, public education system, with the highest standards for every child and school, and with well-trained teachers. This includes supporting early childhood education, PreK-12 schools, community colleges, and our universities.
Art Staed is the Democratic candidate in House District 80. Republican Barrett Hubbard has not submitted a column.
