You remember Pravda, the mouthpiece of the Soviet Union for eight decades (until 1996)? Always putting the best “spin” or “burial” on a situation for the glory of the socialist revolution, Pravda became synonymous for being the superlative real-life example of an oxymoron. Pravda means truth in Russian, but many stories were anything but.
We don’t have a Pravda in the U.S., we have the next best iteration. We make up our “own” truth. And it’s especially acceptable if it fits the narrative of the regime in power.
Need examples?
We watch videos of illegal immigrants (2 million this year) entering our country, busloads driven or flown to various destinations, along with enough fentanyl seizures to kill the population 3 times over while Vice President Kamala Harris and White House press secretary Karin Jean-Pierre look into the cameras telling us our “border is secure.”
In 2019 I asked a noted climate scientist the following question regarding a Medieval warming period (~900-1300 A.D.): “787 scientists, 462 institutions, 42 countries (providing) papers in the last 20 years (that the) warm period was real and global (and) warmer than now (yet) the U.N. says it did not exist …” What is your position/view on this warming period? How did this period exist without a human-made buildup of CO2? I still await a reply and yet forces within our state are chomping at the bit to build a CO2 pipeline to save our climate.
Now we get to define our gender(s), in spite of the natural biological indicators recognized for millenniums.
We adopt policies that place the privacy of the child to pursue transgenderism over the authority of the parent. We treat the parents like a child, giving them knowledge of the pursuit only if permission is granted by the child. Then we penalize anyone who might attempt to dissuade them (non-conversion therapy), all right here in Linn County. First Amendment rights, parental rights, who needs them?
We top this off by putting biological females in jeopardy of assault in our schools and even in our prisons. Two documented assaults have already taken place in Loudon County, VA and pregnancies in women’s prisons (womensliberationfront.org). But have no fear, the federal judge that barred the stay of the Linn-Mar policy says there’s no “imminent harms.”
Remember Pravda. Vote Nov. 8 like the truth depends on it. It does.
Bernie Hayes is the Republican candidate in Senate District 39
