At The Arc of East Central Iowa, our mission is to empower individuals with disabilities, and their families, to engage fully in our Eastern Iowa community. For decades, we’ve stood as a champion for accessibility and dignity, believing that every person deserves the opportunity to thrive.
As a leader in Iowa, we provide critical services across a person’s life span from early intervention and respite care to employment support and skill-building programs. But what makes our work so special is not just what we offer, but that we do it with compassion, respect, and a deep understanding of the unique challenges and strengths of those we serve.
Being a part of this community is at the heart of everything we do. We are neighbors, friends, and partners. We show up at school events, job sites, and neighborhood parks to ensure that all individuals are included and celebrated. Our staff and volunteers live here, work here, and raise their families here. That local connection fuels our passion and keeps our programs rooted in the real needs of the people we serve.
Partnerships are vital to our work, and we’re grateful to be part of a generous and engaged community that believes in building a more inclusive world. Whether it's local businesses creating employment opportunities or families donating their time and talents, we rely on a broad network of support. One way this support shines is through the Target Circle community giving program. Through this initiative, guests can vote to help direct Target’s charitable giving to local nonprofits, and we’re honored to be one of the participating organizations. It’s a simple yet meaningful way for community members to support our mission just by shopping at a store they already love.
These connections between individuals, families, businesses, and organizations are what truly create change. Every vote, every hour volunteered, and every dollar donated contributes to a stronger, more inclusive community where everyone can belong and contribute.
As we look to the future, The Arc of East Central Iowa remains committed to innovation, advocacy, and collaboration. The challenges are real, but so are the possibilities. With your support, we can continue to expand services, empower self-advocates, and create new opportunities for inclusion and independence.
We invite you to learn more, get involved, or simply help spread the word. Together we’re not just changing lives, but we’re also building a better community for all.
