Shoop will put knowledge to work

Why am I running for the Linn County Board of Supervisors? The residents of District 5 need a supervisor who can bring a rural perspective to the board.
I've lived in small towns and rural Linn County my entire life. I have firsthand knowledge of issues affecting District 5 residents because I'm living it. Having to drive 20-plus miles a day on county roads gives me a different perspective from someone who lives in another part of the county. I also deal with a majority of the rural and small-town issues that come before the board on a routine basis (dust, weeds, snow removal, signage, drainage, trees and livestock operations).
What also sets me apart from the incumbent is that I have 39 years of institutional knowledge of county government.
I am responsible for attending Board of Supervisor meetings and recording proceedings. I've been observing and participating in the process for more than 30 years. I have been advocating for Linn County residents all along by virtue of knowing what is discussed during board meetings, and I have made residents aware of issues I know are important to them.
My position as deputy auditor also makes me responsible for managing the payroll, accounts payable and real estate divisions of the Auditor's Office.
It's important for the Board of Supervisors to know the concerns and priorities of Linn County residents when making decisions and planning budgets. As supervisor, I will be actively engaged with residents by attending city council meetings and meeting with 'coffee groups.” What better way to be informed and stay abreast of what is going on.
Some of the issues facing the board include the future of Options, May's Island flood protection and sale of the Mott Building property. I'm ready to work on solutions and produce results that will be in the best interest of Linn County and those we serve.
I will work hard to represent the residents of District 5, while at the same time protecting the interests of all Linn County residents and employees. I am asking you to exercise your right to vote and vote Shoop for supervisor so that I can show you what I can do for you. I can make a difference that you will appreciate.
