Racism is evident on all sides

When one hears Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright or Louis Farrakhan, their message often is detrimental to both the Caucasian citizenry and the black community. Such verbal vitriol enhances the already damaging racial polarization evident in our nation. Consequently, we have a state of affairs where one segment of our population is considered more important than our nation itself.
I encourage readers to contemplate the current degree of racial brainwashing in our nation.
A young black fellow may well have been murdered in Florida. If so, do all caring white conservative patriots want such a crime to go unpunished? Of course not. To listen to the zealots mentioned above, you would hear a resounding “yes they do.” That is brainwashing.
The wrath spewed by such hatred promotes hatred disguised as racism. And the effect journeys overseas. Recall the so-called racial incident at Duke when zealots orchestrated a racial tirade only to be proven wrong. Such attempts at polarizing Americans without legitimate cause are destructive and show no concern for the image of our nation.
Consider Muslim psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Hasan, charged with murdering 13 of our nation's brave protectors at Fort Hood in 2009. His fate is still unresolved. Yet, the above zealots call for immediate action when a black teen is allegedly murdered in Florida. Further, when a troubled white American soldier murders innocent citizens of Afghanistan, non-whites scream for immediate vengeance.
Where is the calm endeavor to arrive at sane justice for all?
If the zealots mentioned in the first paragraph were sincerely interested in a nation free of racism, they would promote the kind of unity espoused by the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Such zealots are encouraged by anti-white rhetoric in our own government including the attorney general, who refused to investigate threatening New Black Panthers at a voting site. Regarding the Florida case, Black Panthers exercise tyrannical abuse of laws, and our chief lawman, is silent.
Our president is silent when left-wing media attacks Michele Bachmann, Sarah Palin and her children and Republican candidates.
Herman Cain, this writer's first choice as a presidential candidate, was a political threat to the Democratic Party, so he was smeared. When he spoke at the African American Museum of Iowa in Cedar Rapids, I did not see a black person in the audience.
Both incidents are effects of brainwashing.
