North Liberty City Council: Jim Sayre
Jim Sayre, North Liberty Council candidate

My name is Jim Sayre, and thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit about me and my campaign for North Liberty City Council.
My beautiful wife and I have lived in North Liberty for over seven years. We have four wonderful children, and as a family we're active supporters of the March of Dimes, which supports research and programs to end premature birth, birth defects, and infant mortality.
I have more than three years of experience serving in various capacities in North Liberty city government. I currently serve on the city's planning and zoning commission, and previously served on the city's board of adjustment and on the city's transit advisory committee.
As a member of the planning commission for about the past two years, I participated in developing the current Land Use Plan, which is used as a tool to manage the city's future development. As a city council member, I will understand the citizen's land-use goals, and the city's guidelines, and procedures. I understand that changes in our community will require us to occasionally revisit and revise the plan.
Through all three volunteer city appointments, I've learned how to be most productive and efficient in representing you. I listen to the issues, ask many questions, do my homework, and make reasonable, rational decisions.
To see how I have demonstrated my commitment to making the best decisions for North Liberty residents, I encourage you to visit the city's website and watch past planning and zoning commission or board of adjustment meetings.
It's important that city council members encourage smart, well thought-out growth that supports compatible economic development and ensures a diverse, and healthy, mix of housing options. I want to be a part of that. Additionally, our utility and roadway infrastructure cannot fall behind the pace of new growth. I want to ensure that.
Over the next few weeks leading up to the Nov. 3 election, please take time to research all of the candidates seeking to represent you. Ask about their priorities for the city's future. Ask about their positions on the issues important to you.
You can find my phone number and email address on Facebook at or on my website. I would love to to talk to you.
Please allow me to continue serving you as a member of your city council. Please vote for me Nov. 3.
