North Liberty City Council: Chris Hoffman
Chris Hoffman, North Liberty Council candidate
Oct. 12, 2015 3:09 pm
My name is Chris Hoffman, and it's been an honor and pleasure to have served as one of North Liberty's city councilors since 2007. Since moving to North Liberty in 2002, a lot has changed in my life just as so much has changed in the history of North Liberty.
Your city staff and council have made significant progress since 2007. I hope future generations will look back on this time in our history with pride. I'm proud to call North Liberty home, and I hope you are too.
From 2007 to the present, North Liberty has grown from a peripheral bystander to a respected leader in Johnson County and the state. North Liberty is the second fastest growing city in the state of Iowa, and we are closing in on becoming the second largest city in Johnson County.
I hope you would agree that North Liberty's growth has been managed well since 2007. I have been very fortunate to have served with a dedicated group of city staff and councilors over that time. Our work has not always been easy, or unanimous for that matter. At each turn we have moved North Liberty forward with sound reasoning and financial stewardship.
As a city, the issues we will confront in the coming four years include, but are certainly not limited to:
1. Coordinating our efforts with the Iowa Department of Transportation to construct a new intersection on I-380 at Forevergreen Road while also making full improvements to Forevergreen Road within North Liberty corporate limits.
2. Planning for and construction of a civic campus on Cherry Street. The new campus will be home to the North Liberty Police Department and city offices.
3. Continued and significant partnership with Johnson County communities to solve infrastructure needs, as well as an inclusive transit plan.
4. Preparing and budgeting for greater demand on social services in our county and North Liberty. North Liberty has become the meeting place for residents/services in northern Johnson County.
I am as excited for North Liberty's future today as I was in 2007. I hope you are excited as well. The next four years in North Liberty's history will be written by you and those elected to serve on your behalf. I would be honored to serve on your behalf again, and hope you will cast a vote for me on Nov. 3.
