Letter: Stop pointing a finger and blaming others

Growing up in a family of five siblings, we were never allowed to call each other names. As is the case with most parental guidelines, we felt a certain delight in calling out a teasing name when playing by ourselves out of Mom's earshot. 'Liar, liar, pants on fire” was one of our favorites. But I will never forget when she caught me pointing at my brother and calling him a liar. She said, 'Just remember! When you point your finger at someone, three fingers are pointing back at you.”

Governance in a democracy is more than pointing a blaming finger at those who have different opinions than your own, and calling them names. Remember Mr. President, three fingers are pointing back at yourself!
