Last May, my wife and I were blessed to welcome our first child into the world. The joy of becoming parents is hard to describe, but it’s a role and a responsibility that we cherish every day. Like many other Iowans, especially young families, we want the best for our kids now and into the future. We want them to build a life in Iowa, exploring educational and career opportunities here at home and, one day, starting families of their own in the place that has given us so much.
For Iowa to continue our strong momentum into the future, we need strong leaders who have the courage, conviction, and credentials to take our state to new heights. It’s why I have endorsed my friend, Randy Feenstra, to be the next governor of Iowa.
A father of four himself, Randy shares the hopes of all parents that his children and the next generation of Iowans will have the same opportunity to live the American dream that the previous generation has. As governor, he will ensure that every Iowa kid receives a world-class education from preschool through college. Under his leadership, we will teach our kids the fundamentals of reading, writing, math, and history — not DEI and other political ideologies. He will also invest in trade schools for young Iowans who want to quickly enter the workforce, support community colleges, and keep our four-year universities institutions of academic excellence. As Chairman of the House Higher Education Committee, I will work closely with Randy to make commonsense reforms that encourage young Iowans to pursue the next step of their education in Iowa.
Additionally, Randy recently made his way to Burlington for a roundtable discussion with local community and business leaders. We had a productive conversation about the need to grow our economy, invest in our Main Streets, and promote economic development in rural Iowa. From his days as chairman of the Iowa Senate Ways and Means Committee, writing the largest tax cut in Iowa history at the time to writing and passing the largest tax cut at the federal level with President Trump, Randy has always been a steadfast advocate for Iowa taxpayers. In that regard, he made clear that lowering costs and making Iowa the friendliest state for business and agriculture was a top priority for him. That means cutting and freezing property taxes, increasing wages for Iowa workers, and creating great jobs across our state. What was evident to me was that Randy is laser-focused on delivering an affordability agenda for Iowa, where people don’t just get by, but get ahead. He will deliver results, not rhetoric.
Randy is a husband, father, fourth-generation Iowan, and devout Christian who shares the values of faith, family, and freedom that we share in Southeast Iowa. He is a no-nonsense conservative who is ready to roll up his sleeves and get to work for families like yours and mine. Randy is the leader our state needs to reach new heights, and I urge all Iowans to join me in supporting his campaign.
Republican state Rep. Taylor Collins lives in Mediapolis and represents Iowa House District 95, including all of Louisa County, and large parts of Des Moines, Henry, and Muscatine Counties.
