Experience will benefit community
Kris Gulick, mayoral candidate
Oct. 21, 2017 8:30 am
It has been privilege to serve on City Council for the past 12 years.
My experience and leadership roles on the council, pushing for greater transparency and sound fiscal discipline, as past president of the Iowa League of Cities and executive board member of the National League of Cities, and as a certified public accountant provide me with a unique background to lead our community as mayor. I have been fortunate to learn what makes communities successful and what challenges they face.
I believe we have created a model in Cedar Rapids of what makes communities successful. It's our people.
As mayor, I will take the momentum that I helped to create over the past several years and build upon it, creating a community that draws businesses and people to live, work and play here. I will leverage my experience with best practices from around the country and apply them to the benefit of Cedar Rapids. I will keep us focused on our common goals and keep City operations disciplined and always improving.
My goal is to make Cedar Rapids a community that others around the country strive to replicate.
Neither residents nor the city council can anticipate all of the decisions that will have to be made in the coming years, but I do believe that my experience is what the next mayor of Cedar Rapids will need to grow our community. I ask that you support me on Nov. 7.
