Hi, I’m Katie Freeman, and I’m running for Coralville City Council to amplify voices too often left out of local decision-making.
I believe a strong city is one where every resident feels seen, heard, and valued — regardless of race, immigration status, gender identity, or income. Too often, marginalized communities are overlooked, and I want to change that. My focus is on creating a city government that listens first, acts equitably, and works collaboratively with residents to tackle the challenges we face.
Coralville is facing rising costs, resource scarcity, and gaps in access to health care and essential services. State and federal policies continue to strain local resources, making it critical that our city be proactive, creative, and community-driven. If elected, I will prioritize protecting vulnerable residents, building inclusive decision-making processes, and planning for a resilient future that supports everyone.
My leadership is guided by two core values: courage and connection. I will lead by connecting and listening first, understanding the needs of our community, and then courageously taking action to do what is right — even when it is hard or uncomfortable. By centering community voices and fostering trust, we can make Coralville a city that works for all its residents.
I’m running because I believe in a Coralville that celebrates its diversity, supports its residents, and prepares for the challenges ahead. Together, we can build a stronger, fairer, and more inclusive city.
Katie Freeman is a candidate for Coralville City Council.
