Cedar Rapids at large: Bridgett Wood
Bridgett Wood, Cedar Rapids Council candidate
Oct. 18, 2015 2:19 am
My name is Bridgett Wood. I am running for Cedar Rapids City Council At Large so that I can be a voice for the younger generations in Cedar Rapids and help make the city a destination for families.
I did not grow up here, but I fell in love with the city when I moved here for college in 2006. I have seen the city go through tough times with the flood of 2008; however I have also seen tremendous growth in since then. It is now time to not only continue with the economic growth of the city, but also focus on the people.
We need to bring families here. This city is vibrant and it needs to have families to keep it that way. It is the sense of community that we have in each section of the city. Bringing opportunities here such as a water park, casino, zoo, etc. will help with that attraction. Families can be anyone - a group of friends, mom and dad, single parents, grandparents, etc. It doesn't have to be traditional people. Getting the people here is what is needed for the growth to continue in the city.
I will do my best to continue to see economic growth in the city, work with the county and other government entities, make the neighborhoods safer, and continue to bring people to Cedar Rapids. Economic growth only happens when the families are here to support it.
