Elle Wyant | Iowa House District 91
I am running for House of Representatives in District 91 because we need more rational voices at the state capital. I have experience working with businesses across the state of Iowa and have lived on a farm most of my life.
Education, economic development and equity are my three big three issues that I am passionate about, and they are important to those individuals I speak with here in Iowa and Johnson County
I am a parent of two teenage daughters, and they need to know they have a role model who supports their dreams and wishes for a kinder community. I am being supported by locals and members from across the state who wish to see someone stand up for them at the state Capitol and defend their human rights. We have seen bills introduced in the Legislature attempting to limit access to abortion, LGBTQ health care access and limiting youth access to sporting activities. This is something I can no longer stand on the sidelines and hope for change. We are not going to have others interested in politics if we don’t stand up ourselves and share our passion for a greater community.
Iowa and Johnson counties need access to higher paying jobs, and we need to encourage our employees to hire skilled workers here within our communities. Access to satellite trade schools or reduced tuition to trade schools in industrial manufacturing would be a step in the right direction. We need greater access to licensed day care facilities for those families that work the second or third shift and need coverage.
I have enjoyed my career in sales at UPS Airlines for nearly two decades and enjoyed my time in the agricultural profession. My family believes in a strong work ethic and has not been afraid to take on a new task or responsibility when starting Fireside Winery over 15 years ago. I will take on the same level of enthusiasm as your Iowa House representative in District 91.
Lastly, I am running for the House of Representatives position because I truly care about those individuals living in our small communities and want to see them succeed. I will show up and listen to your opinion and work on a solution. I am here to stay and so are my supporters.
