VP Pence to tour Rockwell, campaign for Blum in Cedar Rapids visit

Jul. 10, 2018 2:38 pm
CEDAR RAPIDS - Vice President Mike Pence will combine an official visit to discuss the president's tax policies with a campaign stop in Cedar Rapids Wednesday.
Pence is scheduled to tour Rockwell Collins, the region's largest employer, a defense contractor with facilities across Eastern Iowa, before participating in a campaign event for U.S. Rep. Rod Blum, who is up for re-election this year.
According to the vice president's office, he will 'discuss the positive impact of President Donald Trump's tax reform policies on Iowa businesses, working Americans, and their families.”
Pence is scheduled to speak about 4:05 p.m. after touring the facility with Blum to see helmets and flight simulators Rockwell is involved in developing.
Outside, NextGen Iowa and Indivisible Iowa will greet the vice president with a 'Protest and Pride” event beginning at 4 p.m. at 400 Collins Rd. NE. They are targeting Pence and Blum for their 'backward politics” and anti-LGBTQ+ record, NextGen spokeswoman Frances Swanson said.
