Road work begins Monday on east First Avenue in Cedar Rapids
Aug. 26, 2016 6:09 pm
CEDAR RAPIDS - A paving project is set to begin on First Avenue NE, which could tie up traffic over the next several weeks.
Beginning Monday, crews are to begin milling down old pavement on First Avenue NE between 33rd and 40th streets before adding fresh asphalt. During construction, traffic is to be reduced to one lane in each direction, with periodic restrictions on left-hand turns to avoid backups. Flaggers plan to be on site to help with traffic flow. The project should be complete by October.
Traffic delays are expected and motorists are urged to use other routes, such as Interstate 380, when possible.
