City of Cedar Rapids
Sep. 1, 2011 11:50 am
City Carton Recycling, the Cedar Rapids/Linn County Solid Waste Agency, and the City of Cedar Rapids team up to create Recycle More Linn County!
The team is working together to promote recycling more stuff, more often, and in more places in Linn County.
If your neighborhood doesn't have curbside recycling service or you want to de-clutter right away, there are ways for you to recycle any time you want. The three agencies offer a complete solution to recycle just about anything easily, and often for free.
Recycle More Linn County has launched a website, www.RecycleMoreLinnCounty.com, and is airing a television commercial on KCRG, KGAN, and KFXA to get the word out. The new website features an easy to use guide that shows where many different items can be taken for recycling. From paper and plastic to electronics and scrap metal, the answer is just a mouse scroll away!
While Cedar Rapids residents can continue recycling through the city's Curbside Recycling Program, Recycle More Linn County
was formed to help residents who may not have recycling options where they live. Recycle More Linn County promotes recycling drop-off sites available at City Carton Recycling and the two Cedar Rapids/Linn County Solid Waste Agency locations.
City Carton Recycling's drop-off site at 901 Ingleside Dr. SW in Cedar Rapids is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week to all residents of Linn County. For business recycling you can call (319) 362-8714 for further details.
Donations of refundable cans and bottles that are dropped at the site will benefit Daybreak Rotary Club. City Carton Recycling also offers customized programs for local businesses and organizations that include new recycling and waste diversion programs.
The Cedar Rapids/Linn County Solid Waste Agency has two locations that are open from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
The Landfill and Recycling location is at 1954 County Home Road in Marion and can be reached at 377-5290. The Compost/Recycling & Biomass location is at 2250 A St. SW in Cedar Rapids and can be reached at 398-5163.
The staffed recycling drive-thru at the County Home Road facility can help unload resident's recyclable materials. The Solid Waste Agency recycles electronics free of charge to Linn County residents at either location.
Even though the Agency is a government agency, the entity takes pride in saying no tax dollars are used to fund the facilities. All programs and services are funded by landfill tipping fees.
The Cedar Rapids/Linn County Solid Waste Agency serves Linn County residents and businesses with resource recovery programs and services.
The City of Cedar Rapids Curbside Recycling Program serves most residents of Cedar Rapids via the CURBY cart. CURBY is co-mingled, meaning several different materials can be put in the same container.
There is no limit to the amount of recyclables Cedar Rapids customers set out.
If you have extra recycling, put it in a cardboard box and the crewmember will collect everything when they arrive.
Residents also can recycle glass at the curb by setting clear and colored glass in separate buckets next to the CURBY on regular recycling days.
Remember, recycle more stuff, more often, in more places. Recycle More Linn County
is making recycling easy for you.
