A Jones County woman has been charged with fraudulently claiming Federal Emergency Management Agency benefits after the floods of 2008.
Jessica Hines, 32, made her initial appearance Wednesday in U.S. District Court on one count of disaster benefits fraud. According to the indictment unsealed Wednesday, Hines falsely claimed that she'd she lived at an Oxford Junction address at the time of the flooding and that her home and personal property were damaged.
She was released on bond, and a status conference in the case was scheduled for July 25. If convicted, Hines faces up to 30 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine.
