CEDAR RAPIDS - Commercial broker and District 4 City Council member Scott Olson was unanimously approved as mayor pro tempore during the first meeting of the new council on Tuesday.
The mayor pro tempore serves as the backup if the mayor is absent.
The council also approved a slight change to the 2018 meeting schedule.
The council convenes twice each month, on the second and fourth Tuesday at City Hall, 101 First St. SE. The meeting on the fourth Tuesday will move back from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. beginning March 27 to provide more opportunity for Cedar Rapids residents to attend. The meeting on the second Tuesday of the month will remain at noon.
