Nick Glew announced Friday that he will run for Mayor of the City of Marion. Incumbent Mayor Paul Rehn announced Thursday that he will not seek re-election. Glew has served on the Marion City Council for four years.
“As Mayor of the City of Marion, I will stay focused on leading our community down a path of steady and continuous improvement,” says Glew. “As we look to the future, we must actively recognize and rally around everything that makes our community the place we love to call home.”
Glew has developed a campaign foundation based on the following priorities:
• Community Development – Ensure increased investment in roads, continue the redevelopment of Marion's Central Corridor, remain focused on citizen initiated Imagine8 projects, and provide for recreational opportunities that a growing community demands.
• Economic Vitality – Cultivate public-private partnerships that establish a growing and thriving business environment.
• Fiscal Responsibility – Deliver the most efficient services with a focus on putting more money back in the pockets of tax payers.
• Community Engagement – Effectively engage and communicate with citizens.
Glew is a Public Involvement Specialist at Anderson-Bogert Engineers & Surveyors. Prior to joining Anderson-Bogert, Nick was a Private Banker at Cedar Rapids Bank & Trust and a news anchor for KCRG-TV9.
Nick is currently President of the Marion-East Cedar Rapids Rotary Club and Past Vice-President of the Willis Dady Emergency Shelter. He is a 2008 graduate of Leadership for Five Seasons and 2008 Forty Under 40 Honoree by the Corridor Business Journal. Nick's wife Erica is a teacher in the Linn-Mar Community School District. They have one daughter.
On July 11th, “Nick Glew for Mayor” will launch a campaign website, www.nickglew.com.
