Marion Police Chief Harry Daugherty will take over chairmanship of Linn County's E-911 Service Board, outgoing chair Jim Houser has announced.
Daugherty, the board's vice chair, will be acting chair until permanent appointments are made at its January meeting, according to Houser.
Houser lost his bid for in the county's District 5 in November, ending a 20-year run on the board.
Voters in November also rejected the board's request to boost the county's monthly fee on landline phones from 25 cents to $1. The fund, which covers the cost of police, fire, and ambulance communications in the county, is seeing decreased revenues as consumers move from landlines to cell phones.
