Make a Difference Saturday: Cleanup along Interstate 380
City of Cedar Rapids
Oct. 18, 2011 1:38 pm
This Saturday, Oct. 22 is Make a Difference Day! Volunteers in the Cedar Rapids area have several opportunities to make a difference in their community, including collecting litter from the I-380 corridor as part of the Clean Up CR campaign. Volunteers interested in participating in the litter collection should meet at the Public Works Building (1201 6th St. SW) at 8:00am. Volunteers should dress for the weather and wear work gloves and boots. Safety vests and bags will be provided and extra gloves are available if you forget yours. Volunteers must be 17 years or older to participate or supervised by an adult.
Interstate 380 is a very important part of our community, carrying over 31,000 travelers every day. Keeping this resource clean leaves a positive impression of our community on travelers and can be a sense of pride for residents. The Iowa Department of Transportation and the City of Cedar Rapids both work to clean up litter along the road when crews are available. This volunteer litter collection activity will help give state and city crews a head start before winter hits.
