A recent poll suggests that a majority of Iowans like what Terry Branstad is doing as governor.
The Des Moines Register's Iowa Poll says 56 percent of those polled last month approved of the job Branstad is doing. A year ago, shortly after he took office, 45 percent approved.
Fifty-six percent of those polled said his top priority should be raising school quality. Branstad has made legislative proposals for online education, charter schools, teacher evaluation and major changes to student testing.
The poll of 800 Iowans, conducted from Feb. 12 to 15, has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
