CEDAR RAPIDS - After more than a decade of service, Linn County Supervisor Linda Langston has announced she will not seek re-election this fall.
Langston made the announcement in a Tuesday news release. Her latest term on the Linn County Board of Supervisors is up for vote this fall.
'It has been my distinct honor and pleasure to serve the people of Linn County for almost 14 years, and I believe I have been part of many great initiatives at the county,” Langston said in the release. 'I was pleased to be of assistance in the Floods of 2008 and the community's subsequent recovery. I hope to continue my commitment to issues related to public health and mental health even when I am not in elected office. I will look forward to exploring other opportunities at the end of my service.”
Langston's county district, District 2, encompasses parts of the east and west side of Cedar Rapids and College Township.
The filing period for interested county candidates for the 2016 primary election ends March 30.
