Johnson County to lead state Association of Counties

IOWA CITY - Johnson County Sheriff Lonny Pulkrabek has been sworn in as president of the Iowa State Association of Counties.
The organization is a nonprofit consisting of elected and appointed county officials, according to its website, and works to promote effective and responsible county government.
Pulkrabek's term began Jan. 1. He has served on the association's board of directors since 2013.
Johnson County Recorder Kim Painter also was chosen to serve on the association's board of directors. She's been the county recorder since 1999 and has served as board president, according to a news release.
The board is responsible for developing a strategic plan, recommending the organization's budget to its members and determining legislative priorities, according to a news release.
