The City Council Monday night sang the praises of the project that has put pianos on sidewalks downtown for anyone to play.
“We love it. We want a piano in front of our store,” said council member Terry Dickens, co-owner of Herteen & Stocker Jewelers on the Pedestrian Mall.
Two pianos are in place now. Businessmen Marc Moen and Mark Ginsberg, who organized the project, have proposed five locations within the downtown for additional pianos.
The City Code will have to be amended to allow the pianos to stay permanently. Council members asked staff to draw up the language so they can do that.
