GOP U.S. Senate hopeful Mark Jacobs raises $400,000 in fourth quarter of 2013

Republican U.S. Senate hopeful Mark Jacobs' campaign has reported it raised more than $400,000 in the fourth quarter of 2013.
Jacobs, a former energy company executive who has returned to his native Iowa, reported raising more in the six weeks after he joined the race than total amount his competitors -- Joni Ernst, Matt Whitaker, Sam Clovis and Scott Schaben -- in the entire Oct. 1 to Dec. 31 period. Also, Jacobs for Iowa said he has raised more money from Iowans than any of the other candidates has reported to date.
Jacobs' fundraising number is impressive because he raised it in a relatively short period of time that included the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, said campaign manager Brian Dumas.
