Downtown Iowa City bench painting project to launch Friday
The Iowa City Downtown District on June 1 will officially launch a project to paint designs on public benches.
“Seasons of the Bench” is part of the district's larger “Paint the Town: Benchmarks” campaign, which will include other creative projects. For the benches, 126 of them will be painted over the next two years. A handful have already been decorated.
The June 1 event starts at 5 p.m. on the Pedestrian Mall near the Iowa City Public Library. It will include artist demonstrations.
