The City of Cedar Rapids recently received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) in recognition of the City's budgeting process.
According to the GFOA, this award “reflects the commitment of the City of Cedar Rapids and its staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. In order to receive the budget award, the City of Cedar Rapids had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well the City's budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device.”
“This distinguished budget award confirms our commitment to providing a budget document that serves the needs of the Cedar Rapids City Council and the citizens of Cedar Rapids,” said Finance Director Casey Drew. “I'm proud of the hard work that our staff dedicates to the budgeting process each year.” The City of Cedar Rapids received this award for its presentation of the FY2012 Budget Book.
About the GFOA: The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit professional association serving nearly 17,400 government finance professionals throughout North America.
