City of Washington selects Hinson as new city administrator

The City Council in Washington, Iowa has selected Brent Hinson as the new City Administrator. Hinson has been the City Administrator in Garner, Iowa since 2005.

Hinson will replace Dave Plyman who took a similar job in Rochelle, Illinois in May after a decade in Washington, Iowa. Plyman was also the first City Administrator for Washington and had many accomplishments during his tenure.

Garner's 2010 population is 3,129 and Washington's is 7,266.

There were 91 applicants for the position and 5 finalists that were interviewed this last weekend. Voorhees Associates, LLC assisted the City of Washington in its search process.

Hinson's official first day in Washington is October, 17, 2011.

Hinson is a 2000 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa, a 2002 graduate of Drake University, and a 1996 graduate of Mediapolis High School in Southeast Iowa.
