Linn County will not be moving its administrative offices into the former Econofoods building on Cedar Rapids' northeast side. The building has been sold, according to a news release from the county this morning.
Here's the news release:
Linn County received a letter on Nov. 5 from Iowa Realty Commercial stating a purchase and sale agreement has been entered into for the former Econofoods building at 1800 51st St. NE in Cedar Rapids, making this building no longer eligible as a potential location for Linn County administrative offices. The letter from Iowa Realty Commercial was entered into correspondence during the Board of Supervisors meeting this morning, Nov. 9.“We're sorry to see this property is no longer an option for the County,” said Lu Barron, Chairwoman of the Linn County Board of Supervisors. “However, when a property is for sale, this outcome is always a possibility.”The Econofoods building was presented as one of five options for a permanent location for Linn County administrative offices during Linn County's open houses in October. The results from the public input from those open houses and online surveys will be presented to the Board of Supervisors on Nov. 16.
