Branstad appoints new Economic Development Authority board

Sep. 16, 2011 8:40 am
Gov. Terry Branstad on Friday appointed 11 Iowans to serve on the newly formed Economic Development Authority board created by lawmakers to guide the governor's public-private approach to job creation and business development efforts in Iowa.
The new board -– which is slated to hold its first meeting Oct. 20 -- replaces the Economic Development board, which held its last meeting on Thursday. Three of the new authority board members carry over from the now-dissolved DED board.
“I am pleased today to announce this 11-member board, which will oversee our state's economic development,” said Branstad. “Lt. Gov. (Kim) Reynolds and I have set an ambitious goal of creating 200,000 new jobs for Iowans and raising family incomes by 25 percent. This board will play a large role in promoting Iowa to businesses looking to expand or relocate in Iowa.”
