Anonymous donor gives Des Moines new flag after old one stolen
A Des Moines woman whose American flag was stolen and shredded has received a new flag - thanks to a stranger.
Lynn Montgomery awoke Wednesday morning to find a new flag on a new pole waving in front of her home. She has no idea who put it there.
Her 3-by-5 flag and flagpole were taken last week from her front porch. She found only a scrap of the flag in the yard. She said she probably wouldn't have called police if the flag hadn't been cut up.
Montgomery says it wasn't an attack against her or her husband but rather an "attack against our country."
Police have no suspects.
