According to the National Weather Service, today’s weather in the Cedar Rapids area today will be sunny with a high near 88. Light and variable wind coming from the north 5 to 10 mph by afternoon. Tonight it should be clear, with a low around 55.
The Linn County Sheriff’s Office said two people died Sunday afternoon when their vehicle was struck by a train near Fairfax. A Union Pacific train was traveling east and the vehicle, with a male driver and a female passenger, was traveling south at the crossing. Both in the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. Names are being withheld pending notification of family.
The Iowa Hawkeyes continue to be ranked fifth in the Associated Press’ Top 25, after their 24-14 win Saturday over Colorado State. It was the Hawkeyes’ 10th consecutive win and they are now 4 and 0 for the season, with an Oct. 1st road game against undefeated Maryland.
