How the ranked Iowa high school football teams fared in Week 5
8-Player No. 6 Easton Valley hands Central City its first loss, while another top-ranked 1A team falls this week

For the third week in a row, The Gazette’s top-ranked Iowa high school football team in Class 1A lost Friday night.
This time, the Sigourney-Keota Cobras handed No. 1 Pella Christian its first loss, 15-13.
Week 5 of was the start of district play in Class 4A and Class 3A, and 4A offered us two top-10 matchups to get started. No. 3 Bondurant-Farrar fell from the ranks of the unbeaten at fifth-ranked Carlisle, 36-20, while No. 9 Iowa City Liberty rallied to beat No. 8 North Scott, 20-16. Those were two of seven ranked matchups around the state this week.
