Jake Rudock threw only five interceptions at Iowa last season, but Hawkeye fans watching Thursday night's Michigan game at Utah were likely reminded of a painful memory.
Rudock threw three interceptions in his first start with the Wolverines, the last of which went for a Utes' touchdown that put the home team up 24-10 in the fourth quarter.
In total, Rudock, a two-year starter at Iowa who transferred after Kirk Ferentz replaced him atop the depth chart with C.J. Beathard, was 27-of-43 for 279 yards, two touchdowns and three picks.
It looked an awful lot like Rudock's fourth-quarter interception that Maryland's William Likely brought back for a touchdown in a 38-31 Terrapins' win over Iowa last season.
Rudock responded Thursday by leading Michigan on a nine-play, 80-yard drive that was capped with a 10-yard TD pass to former West Des Moines Dowling receiver Amara Darboh.
But it was too little, too late, as an onside kick attempt was recovered by Utah and Jim Harbaugh's first game as the head coach at his alma mater resulted in a 24-17 loss.
Harbaugh said in a postgame press conference televised by Fox Sports 1 that Rudock mostly made the right reads and that only his second interception was not a good throw.
"To throw an interception for a touchdown and then come back with a touchdown drive, I thought that was outstanding," Harbaugh said.
And then, there's this...
