UNI releases 2017 football schedule

CEDAR FALLS — The University of Northern Iowa has released its 2017 football schedule, and it begins with a road game at Iowa State.

That game will be played either Thursday, Aug. 31 or Saturday, Sept. 2 at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames. The date has not been finalized.

UNI then will host Cal Poly in a non-conference game Sept. 9. Another non-conference game follows Sept. 16 at Southern Utah.

After a week off, the Panthers begin Missouri Valley Conference play Sept. 30 at Southern Illinois. The following week, it's a home game against Western Illinois.

Aug. 31 or Sept. 2 — at Iowa State

Sept. 9 — Cal Poly

Sept. 16 — at Southern Utah

Sept. 30 — at Southern Illinois

Oct. 7 — Western Illinois

Oct. 14 — at South Dakota State

Oct. 21 — Youngstown State

Oct. 28 — at North Dakota State

Nov. 4 — South Dakota

Nov. 11 — at Missouri State

Nov. 18 — Indiana State
