MIAMI - Former Iowa offensive coordinator Ken O'Keefe is moving up to the NFL to become the Miami Dolphins' wide receivers' coach.
O'Keefe surprised many Iowa fans Friday when he announced he was leaving the program after 13 years, but he didn't say where he planned to coach next. The Dolphins announced O'Keefe's hiring Saturday, along with two other coaching hires.
The 58-year-old O'Keefe was known for running a balanced, pro-style attack at Iowa. The Hawkeyes ranked 58th in the country in scoring offense in 2011, and averaged 27.5 points per game.
Both offensive and defensive coordinator jobs remain open at Iowa for coach Kirk Ferentz to fill.
