AMES - Former Washington State offensive coordinator Todd Sturdy has been named the wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator at Iowa State.
Sturdy, a native of Tipton, Iowa, previously spent 12 seasons as the head coach at St. Ambrose University in Davenport.
Sturdy was the offensive coordinator at Eastern Washington in 2007 before spending the past four seasons with the Cougars.
Sturdy's offense ranked ninth nationally in passing offense last season.
Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads says it's a real coup for the Cyclones to land Sturdy based on his success as a play-caller and his ability to recruit the West Coast.
