The Iowa High School Athletic Association released the round of 16 pairings for the 2022 Iowa high school football playoffs Saturday.
Teams are bracketed into four groups of four in each of the seven classes for this round and the quarterfinals.
The 2A, 1A, A and 8-Player playoffs started Friday night with the round of 32. The round of 16 is the first round for 5A, 4A and 3A.
All Class 5A teams qualified via RPI. In 4A and 3A, the district champions and runners-up qualified automatically and four teams earned at-large bids via RPI.
Among the 4A at-large qualifiers is Cedar Rapids Washington, which finished 17th in the RPI but jumped No. 16 Marion for the last playoff spot because it beat the Wolves head-to-head.
Hosts are determined via RPI in 5A and district finish in the other six classes (in 4A and 3A, two district runners-up with the best RPI also host).
Here are the round of 16 matchups. Games kick off at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28.
