The first segment of this week’s Prep Football Huddle podcast was all about the constant change in our weekly Class 4A rankings.
Expect that to be a topic again on next week’s show.
The top three teams in 4A all lost Friday night, meaning there will likely be a new No. 1 team Monday for the third week in a row. Two of those teams fell to opponents that were tied for fifth in the poll — Grant Glausser rushed for 300-plus yards as Western Dubuque toppled No. 1 North Scott, 31-24, while Bondurant-Farrar upended third-ranked Council Bluffs Lewis Central, 36-26.
A week after beating those Western Dubuque Bobcats, No. 2 Cedar Rapids Xavier went on the road and was stunned by Pella, 31-21.
Class A has a similar story at the top, where its No. 1-ranked team went down for the second week in a row. Lynnville-Sully, without injured all-state running back Corder Noun Harder, was dealt a 27-9 setback by sixth-ranked Madrid.
Here’s a look at how the 70 teams ranked in The Gazette’s poll fared in Week 4.
