Oct. 3, 2010 2:04 pm
IOWA CITY - The first night game at Kinnick for the 2010 football season led to law enforcement issuing 114 citations and arresting 25 people throughout Saturday.
University of Iowa Public Safety report the following citation and arrest numbers from Saturday:
- 20 PAULA (underage drinking) citations
- 24 Public urination tickets
- 68 Open Container citations
- 2 Cited for smoking in a prohibited area.
Because of the 7:05 p.m. kickoff, the university had put a ban on any post-game tailgating activity.
In the arrest log, a handful of incidents stuck out:
- Police cited a 49-year-old Des Moines man for public intoxication and reported he blew a .394 PBT, about the equivalent of 18-20 alcoholic beverages.
- Investigators say a 21-year-old man from Waverly was cited for interference with official acts, among other charges, as he was "screaming profanities" at others before arguing with officers and using his head to hit an officer in the nose.
