New Iowa State Fair Food announced for 2018

The brand new All Iowa Belly Up Burger could just be the intense sandwich experience you're looking for.

One of the new food items coming to this year's Iowa State, the Belly Up Burger found at the Rib Shack features a half pound of fresh ground pork belly, topped with pulled pork, slathered with barbecue sauce, topped with thick-cut candied bacon and crowned with Rib Shack Slaw. Somewhere, somehow, there is also a brioche bun reportedly involved in containing this mountainous concatenation of calories. All this for the affordable cost of $10, and whatever happens to you after you eat it.

The burger was one of several new items announced Tuesday coming to this year's Iowa State Fair. These include interesting treats such as Apple Egg Rolls (a sort of a combo between an apple streudel and an egg roll), Poffertjes (mini, whip creamed dolloped pancakes accompanies by powdered sugar and strawberries), Not So Thin Mint (a mint paddy, loaded with Andes crème de menthe pieces, and covered in chocolate, melded fair style to a stick), and the Pickle Popper (fried pickles that are split in half, coated in cream cheese, and stuffed with more cheese, bacon, jalapenos, mandarin oranges and then covered with breading and fried)

And that's just a few of the new food items to be featured at the fair, with some of the foodstuffs on sticks and others that will just stick to your belly.
