CEDAR RAPIDS — Long John Silver’s is making a comeback in Cedar Rapids after a fire damaged the city’s only remaining location.
The southwest location at 2630 Williams Blvd. SW closed on Dec. 12 after firefighting crews fought the restaurant’s blaze for an hour.
Now, several months into the building’s restoration, a spokesperson has confirmed it will reopen soon.
“The Long John Silver’s location in Cedar Rapids, IA, is tentatively set to reopen late summer 2024,” the spokesperson told the Corridor Business Journal. “Our local Long John Silver’s crew looks forward (to) delivering our unique seafood experience with the treasured menu offerings customers have come to know and love.”
The building, constructed in 1973, became the Corridor’s only remaining location after another Cedar Rapids location at 3801 First Ave. SE closed in June 2014. The closure was one of eight locations shuttered across Iowa.
Long John Silver’s operates several other Iowa locations in Clinton, Davenport, Urbandale, Des Moines, Council Bluffs and Sioux City.
