Woman killed in Cedar County fire Tuesday

A 77-year-old woman was killed Tuesday in a house fire in rural Cedar County, according to the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office was called about 5 p.m. Tuesday to 117 Hoover Highway for a report of a house fire. A resident of the home. Janet Stafford-Becthold, was found dead inside.
The cause of the fire still is under investigation, according to a news release.
Multiple departments responded to the incident including the Oxford Junction Fire Department, the Lowden Fire Department, the Oxford Junction Ambulance, the Tipton Ambulance, the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Fire Marshals Office.
