CEDAR RAPIDS — Three people were injured Tuesday night in a fire at an apartment building in the 400 block of Jacolyn Drive SW in Cedar Rapids, according to a news release from the Cedar Rapids Fire Department.
The fire department was called to the area at 10:24 p.m., where they found an active fire in a two-story apartment building with eight units. Several of the units were involved in the fire.
Three adult occupants who escaped from units on the first and second floors were taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Firefighters also administered oxygen to a cat on scene, the release states.
Firefighters had the blaze under control by 10:40 p.m. Several of the building units that were involved in the fire will be uninhabitable and may be placarded by fire staff after they finish damage assessments, according to the release.
