One dead after Marion residential fire

One person has died after a residential fire in Marion Friday morning, according to a news release from the city of Marion.

Marion police and firefighters were called to the 3400 block of Quail Trail Court at 7:43 a.m. Friday for what was initially listed as a high priority medical call, but they later learned involved a fire.

Firefighters arrived at the scene five minutes after the call came in and removed one individual from the residence where the fire had started, the release states.

The fire was put out quickly, but the resident was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not been released.

The fire is being investigated by the Marion Police Department and the Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office., according to the release.
