Residents of a manufactured home in North Liberty were awakened by neighbors early Christmas morning when fire was seen coming from the home’s roof.
The North Liberty Fire Department was called to the home at 128 Golfview Ct. at 5:29 a.m. Wednesday for a report of fire coming from the roof of the structure, according to a news release from the city of North Liberty.
The fire was located in the exterior and interior of the building, along the roof line. Working smoke detectors were not sounding when the fire department arrived.
The home’s occupants, who were displaced by the fire, are staying with relatives in the area.
Firefighters from North Liberty, Coralville and Solon were on the scene for two hours, as were other responders: the North Liberty Police Department, Johnson County Ambulance, Linn County REC, Mid-American Energy and the Johnson County Emergency Communications Center.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
