A firefighter was injured early Monday while fighting a fire at an unoccupied North Liberty mobile home, which authorities say left it at a total loss.
Firefighters responded at 1:30 a.m. Monday to Holiday Mobile Home Court for a report of a fire. Nearby homes were evacuated and firefighters extinguished the flames with hose lines. They searched the home but found no one was inside.
One firefighter was injured with a cut on the arm during the suppression efforts. The firefighter was evaluated at an urgent care clinic and released.
Fire crews were on scene for about two hours. The cause of the fire still is under investigation. A loss estimate hasn’t been determined yet, but a North Liberty Fire Department news release said the mobile home was a total loss.
The city’s fire department was assisted by the Coralville and Solon fire departments, the North Liberty Police Department, Johnson County Ambulance Service, Linn County Rural Electric Cooperative, North Liberty Water Department and the Johnson County Emergency Communications Center.
